This morning (not even a full 24 hours after his "birth") he was double in volume and has begun to smell a little parmesan cheese/dirty sneaker-like. I will probably feed him around 3 pm today.Jillyannhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13197452639201993785noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5175177196532778107.post-59237580889137204322010-04-30T11:56:57.405-04:002010-04-30T11:56:57.405-04:00LOL Ive heard hooch used thusly myself. The main obstacle would be getting past the smell!

From where I come from (Southern California), "hooch" is a loose woman, if you know what I mean. That was how it was used when I was growing up anyway. Definitely nothing culinary related.

Those preserved lemons look wonderful. Yes... that guy is like the Carrie Underwood song says...a good time cowboy cassenova...but he's sugar coated misery...LOL.

The sourdough starter really is pretty simple. You'll want to leave it at room temp and feed everyday until the entire surface is bubbly and it WILL smell like stale beer. You can leave it out at room temp longer but just be aware that it will be VERY sour and some people don't like that extreme sour taste in the finished bread. Refrigeration slows that down and sort of "holds" the starter where it is.

Next week I'll probably be making my grandfather's rolls and posting the recipe.Jillyannhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13197452639201993785noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5175177196532778107.post-33682528197665993602010-04-29T20:34:42.939-04:002010-04-29T20:34:42.939-04:00"streptacoccolibadjuju" ??! We actually call them Algerian lemons, b/c I have a lot of Algerians married into my family. Hence this is a delicacy we associate with them. Algeria is next door to Morocco though, so I'm sure your recipe will suit my taste buds just fine...
I'm going to go ahead and do it this week!Stellahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12441053969652689705noreply@blogger.com
